pyrrhic victory : a too costly victory

مثال:

in heavy fighting the troops managed to recapture the hill, but it could only be considered a Pyrrchic victory

 to eat humble pie : to admite your error and apologize

مثال : after his candidate had lost the election , the boastful campaign maneger had to eat humble

a pig in a poke : an item you purchase without having seen : a disappointment

مثال :

the mail order bicycle that my nephew bought turned out to be a pig in a poke , and he is now trying to get his money back

a flash in the pan : promising at the start but then disappointing

the rookie hit many home runs in spring training , but once the season began he proved to be a flash in the pan

  زمان حال : 

الگوی زمان حال در جملات پیچیده استفاده می شود. جملات wish  که ارجاع به زمان حال دارد ، اشکال گذشته فعل را مورد استفاده قرار می دهد. استفاده از that برای ساختن این جملات انتخابی است.

مثال : 

جمله اصلی :

They live in a tropical climate now

جمله ای که با wish ساخته می شود :

They wish that they could live in a more moderate climate

نکته : هرگز از زمان حال ساده در جمله بعد از wish  استفاده نکنید.

از were در تمام اشخاص به جای was استفده کنید.
